Trek for Treats to 15 of the World’s Most Unique Candy Stores
The average Halloween candy haul tends to look the same year after year. But for those wanting more than a bucket of bite-sized Hershey bars and Twizzlers, there’s a whole whimsical world full of sweet delights out there.
Sugar fiends willing to travel will find all sorts of unconventional candy vendors along their path, ranging from the decidedly charming to the definitely unusual. Nostalgia is king at a revived Massachusetts chocolate factory producing candy bars from a 1938 recipe, while an old-school New Jersey sweet shop does double duty as the set where Tony Soprano met his fate.
For those who’d rather eat with their eyes, there’s the 1,500-pound cacao castle on display in Pennsylvania, as well as a 20-foot waterfall featuring more than 3,000 pounds of cascading molten chocolate in Alaska. Some of these places may be well off the beaten path, but those willing to make the journey will find plenty of sweet surprises.
